My wife and I live in Garner and we're thinking about upgrading to a town home. Knightdale seems nicer to us and the town homes look more affordable. How would you guys compare the two cities for living? What is a good area to live based on your experiences?

My son bought a home across from Knightdale High School and is very happy with the town.

Decent working class town now, unfortunately, being infested with transplants.

Lots of new retail and services sprouting up. The nicest free park I've ever seen serving all ages.

Regarding Garner, I do not like the local roads which have been expanded to freeway size. However, this might be me since my defective depth perception makes these roads extremely difficult.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, I've met so many people down here from NJ/NY.

There's quite a bit of new build going on Kdale at the moment. Knightdale Station backs up the park which has walking trails, playground, pond, etc.. The new Thales Academy is there, as it a dance school, and the new YMCA with pool. It's very walkable. Main shopping is a short 5 min. drive away to Dick's, TJ Maxx, Target, etc.. Triangle Town Mall is 10 minutes away.

I would say that there is less traffic in Kdale than Garner, it's probably a little quieter. Proximity to downtown is about the same unless you are further into Garner near 50 or 40. Garner has around 30k residents, Kdale is about half this number.
I love living in Kdale!
