Hi. I am moving to the Raleigh area in June and I am working on filling out a rental application. I have to list both myself and my wife. I have a job and can provide recent pay stubs. My wife can provide her most recent paystubs from her job in Chicago but she will be quitting her job and looking for work after we move. Should I just mark her as unemployed on the rental application? Our credit score is around 660 and minus the house which we just sold, we have around $60k in debt. I guess I could qualify on my own. Rent is $1700/month and I make 6 figures. Thanks.

A little OT, but rentals in Raleigh are priced less than Chicago. Unless we're talking a 3-4 bedroom house, you can find something very suitable for less than $1700/mo. I'd be doing that for a year or so and work on getting rid of the $60k in debt.

When I moved to Raleigh, I was working as a consultant so we just put it under my husband's name. It's no big deal.

If you meet the standards for income, your wife can be an additional occupant with no stated income.
