I don't know specifics, but the hotel is nice, the rooms are nice, the food is good although I don't know the price. There is a large indoor mall directly across the street and Umstead State Park is a few miles away. Downtown Raleigh and a neat, older (but very small) area called 5 Points is about 10 minutes by car. The NC Museum of Art is also not far (less than 10 minute drive). North Hills is a newly rennovated shopping and entertainment area not too far (again, less than a 10 minute drive). It has neat shops, restaurants, a movie theater and is built like a "city scape". It's nice to walk around and have a coffee or something on a warm day.

I'm confused by this part of your question. Are you saying that you're going to a wedding reception at this hotel & you think you'll have to pay for your meal at the reception? Ordinarily guests to a wedding reception do not have to pay for the food that is offered, whether there is a sit-down meal or a buffet. You may have to pay for alcoholic beverages if there is not an open bar, but I've never heard of wedding guests hving to pay for food at a wedding reception. If you're unsure, contact the hosts of the wedding & ask what you're expected to bring.

Default Great place!

I am with Mrs.Steel on not quite understanding the wedding dinner part. The hotel is fabulous though! I love it. The rooms are really nice, and the staff was great. Also, they have chocolate chip cookies when you come in..

If you try out the little restaurant they have there...it is also good as well. We ate there a couple of times because we had a four month old the first time we went. We also ordered room service once when we went because we had the baby and had a hard time getting out with her at night back then...It was better than having to get fast food.
