No, you weren't.

We burned out on Chubby's on Lake Boone because we were going so much. Haven't been in a year or so. How was business when they closed? There used to be a line out the door sometimes.

They haven't closed.

Sorry, completely misunderstood. Good, hope to get back there sometime soon.

I was indifferent. Unimpressed. Didn't hate them, but there were much better tacos available.

There are really good authentic tacos in the area. Durham being the best, parts of Raleigh being good, and Cary has a couple decent ones. Sanford, if you are that way, is a hidden gem of hispanic foods (about the only good thing I'll ever say about Sanford, having lived there for 15 years).

Enter "Taqueria" into the search bar and you'll find some good ones.

EDIT: Speaking of Mexican food in Sanford: http://places.singleplatform.com/el-...taurant-2/menu

I don't think Chubby's is trying to compete with the "authentic" places. They have tofu and portobello mushrooms on their menu.

And not everyone is looking for "authentic". I only care if ingredients are fresh, the flavor is good, and the price a good value. Whether or not it's exactly like something I would get in Mexico isn't a factor for me.

Love a hole in the wall lunch at Chubby's!

Cheap, fresh, quick.

Chubby's Tacos files for bankruptcy | News & Observer

Looks like at least one Chubby's is staying open!
