I'm looking to have a storage shed installed in my yard. I want a nice one that is hopefully not likely to provide a hiding place for snakes and other critters. Where is the best place to get one and have it installed? Do I just go to Home Depot or Lowes and let them do it, or is there an independent dealer/installer in the Durham area who's terrific? I'm not looking for anything huge, just like a 10 x 10 so that I don't need permits.
Check your HOA if you have one in your community. I would hate for you to waste your money after finding out it's not allowed!
Some CCRCs restrict them too. There is a place in Pittsboro, 15/501 near 64 that has a lot of nice looking sheds that they can drop on your property. Sorry I do not know the name.

Just a resale tip: try to get one that matches, as closely as possible, the look of your house. It's such a simple decision that can have a tremendous impact on curb appeal and the overall beauty of your property, even if it's not visible from the road. Never know when you might want to sell in the future, and getting a matching one versus an oddball on sale can impact desirability (how quickly it sells and for how much).
Not saying it needs to be a mini-replica of the home, just simple things like siding color and general roof style make a huge difference. That can be hard to do if you just plop down something from Home Depot. A custom shed builder like the one already suggested could easily meet the need.
I went with Mike J's advice about 5 years ago and can not be happier. Carolina Yard Barn. Built on site with Real 2x4's and solid. One day build, you paint.

Elevate your new shed at least 1 foot. Put hardware cloth or a small mesh welded wire around the foundation and bury it 6 inches to 1 foot. You can dress it up with lattice over that.

Or just get a cement slab and go down 12".
Depending on the size you need the plastic sheds they sell at Sams Club and Costco are nice. I put one on a cement slab at my last house and really liked it. It was perfect for yard tools and a lawnmower.

Slabs are nice but I like a shed on skids. You can move that sucker if you need to. I moved mine twice so far. I could even take it with me if I moved.
