I finally took the time to check this out - but it looks like they've sort of abandoned it from the perspective of the general public interest? There's a note on the door that it's no longer staffed, and the cafe is closed...but you can still go inside (companies do rent some of the space). Would anyone know if there are plans to revamp it for the public?
I was excited for the opportunity to learn more, and it is nice to sit and watch takeoffs!

Interesting. Can you just park and wander around inside for the most part? Sounds crazy.

It's a pretty limited space...you can wander, but I think the office spaces probably all require entry codes. Still a great view, in my opinion!

Well Signature has always been bad, no matter where they are...I hear TacAir is better.

It's too bad GA is dying; insurance, fuel, parts, etc are all ridiculous.

Crosswinds had opened in 2004 upon completion of the GA terminal and new ramp ($50 million). Originally it was weekdays morning to early evening and weekends morning to late afternoon. The hours had dwindled to weekdays lunch only.

The pre-2004 GA facilities at RDU were grim. Agree with the other posts that GA doesn't seem to be on the radar of Michael Landguth or the RDUAA board. They're more interested in how to put hotels and offices on the land that they won't pave.

I assume nearby small airports with instrument capability (TTA, JNX, LHZ, etc) drain away some of the GA traffic.
