I don't like charter schools. They are for-profit entities that siphon tax money away from public schools.

If people want their kids in private school, they should buckle down and pay for private school.

If charters operated as nonprofits only in areas where public school building cannot keep up with demands of a growing area, I'd be less concerned about them.

I know someone who used to work at the K-8 school. Total nightmare of a business - that's what it is. They will do anything to keep the kids there (a/k/a their business) and so the inmates rule the asylum. The corporation controls it - not the principal, not the teachers. Most of those kids probably can't integrate into a WCPSS high school so this will be good for them.

I hope they go through with this! Even if some think that charter schools are bad, all of the public schools in the area are seriously overcrowding! This may help solve a problem in raleigh school districts

No link. They held an open house for parents a few weeks back and said they were not going through with the plans and were letting the option on the land expire. I think they have enough on their plate managing their current schools, such an endeavor would be a mistake at this point. Wake County is a whole different beast compared to some of CSUSA's other markets with regards to student expectations compared to the public school system.

We have new public schools opening.

Those will ease overcrowding. If the parents who lost their minds over year-round would reconsider it and be practical, we'd have plenty of room.

Looks like CSUSA had had some problems!

Many charters are non-profits. I wish they all were.
