My mom used to own some chihuahuas and she bought from a breeder who lived "out in the country" in Apex. I still recall driving out there with her in 1996-97, multiple times.

It was in the middle of NOWHERE. It's not, now. The transformation of Apex is wild.

But, I also recall when Cary was downtown, the "Village Mall" and a few housing developments, a trailer park, etc.

Why isn't anyone focusing on the best part of this thread, a new Metro Diner location?

While it's not exactly what I knew from back in the NY/NJ area, it's captured the feel and menu diversity that reminds me of what I grew up with. We go to the one on Falls of Neuse all the time.

I mean, you buy cars once every 4-6 years but you eat a meal three times a day, every day. Let's keep our focus here folks.

Right!? My wife is from NJ. I told her about Metro Diner like I was telling her we won the lottery. She was very, very happy.

LOL, OK let's look on the bright side.

Wait till car carriers are blocking the roads down there all the time like they do behind the Cary Auto Mall. Will be fun with the Salem Schools there at arrival and dismissal.

I'm wondering if there will be any improvements in that under the bridge area. The center lane design is atrocious and doesn't accomodate even current traffic.

Nope. My eldest kid is close to Nick's age.

I'm used to it. Hehehe.

Ha. Sorry about that!

Redzin mentioned what Apex was like in 96/97......we were living in Raleigh off Leesville/Glenwood and I was about 7 or 8 at the time. I still remember my dad was working on the plans for a client who was going to build "way out in Apex" and he took my mom and us kids out to check it out because there was a lot near there that was also for sale he was potentially interested in (this was the beginning of Haddon Hall)...mom refused to move that far out "into the country"

Parents divorced in 99....mom moved to Apex in 2003 and still lives there and loves it. However, she "can't believe how crowded and pricey it is now".
