I'm looking for recommendations for on-water accommodations where you can launch a kayak from the hotel/resort. Coastal NC and the ICW is preferred, but I'm also interested in hearing about inland river options if anyone has any. We stayed at the Waterway Inn in Swansboro and want to try a new place with similar features, if it exists. Ideally, I would be able to leave my room, get in my boat, and get in the water. Bonus points if it's the kind of place where you can leave your boats all day while you explore by car.
Just to clarify: I'm not looking to surf launch, so not oceanfront.
From somewhere in the way back corner of the brain, covered with dust and spiderwebs, so it might be a bad memory. . . Bellhaven, NC had a bed and breakfast with boat access. Maybe kayak (the dust bunnies in the mind are massive) trail? Taking the longer way home from the Outer Banks by Lake Mattamuskeet and stopped to take a stroll in the town. If not Bellhaven, some small town on the water between the lake and Washington/Greenville.

Thanks for any guidance!
There is a road in Nags Head called Colington Road (right up side of the Wright Brother's memorial). It goes all the ways back to the sound side. Every time we eat lunch there we see kayaks stopping in to eat. A quick search found Jay's campground. I have never been on the water but there must be something good going on. Good luck.
My next stop is the Coastal NC forum! Thanks, StAndriod.
Thanks, Supernc42. Nag's Head wasn't even on my radar, so this is helpful. NC really is an amazing place to live if you kayak. There are *so many* places to go.
Location: River's Edge Inn, Todd NC, and Lorgues France

You can launch from our back yard on the New River in Todd (River's Edge Inn).
If you're ambitious you can follow it all the way to the Ohio River,
and finally New Orleans (Be the first!)

I love that area. Was just looking at a potential bike touring route going right by that area last night
