This is an old post but I was curious if anyone had any updated info on it. I'm possibly looking for a tutor for my son, or info on schools that help kids w/ dyslexia. Thanks.
Hi! I'm a SpEd Teacher (w/15 yrs experience) in the Fayetteville, NC area and I'm earning my Level I Wilson Reading Certification...FABULOUS program! (Sister program to OG) Wasn't sure if the parents above were able to find tutors specializing in working with students with dyslexia, so thought I would post in reference to your previous search. Let me know if I can be of help!
This is an old post, but I am responding because I know that many people will be searching for Orton-Gillingham tutors. Your local International Dyslexia Association branch can provide you with a list of specialists in your area. You can also contact the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators. Wilson maintains its own list of certified practitioners.
A note about Wilson: I would consider it more of a child of OG, rather than a sister. Orton-Gillingham or, quite simply, multisensory language education, is an approach to teaching - not a program. There is no script or set scope and sequence. Wilson is a good program in the right hands, as it is a program based on Orton-Gillingham. Barbara Wilson herself was trained in OG.
