Hello,
Any suggestion for picnic area with lake water access? Mainly for adults and kids to easily & safely get into the water.

Preferably shaded or near a shelter. We are two families with two 4 year old.

Thanks.

Ebenezer Church or Seaforth Beach rec areas at Jordan Lake should nicely fit your criteria. Sandling Beach at Falls Lake is another option, depending on where you live.

Seconded. Plus, the boathouse offers several rental options for getting out into the lake.

Lake Crabtree Park is really pretty and centrally located. It has really nice playgrounds for kids. I'm not sure they have swimming though, just boating-- I could be wrong about that.

Granted, I haven't been there in 20 years, but at that point, they did not allow swimming.

How do I know?

I took a little Sunfish out for a spin at Crabtree lake during a rather windy day. I lost control of the sail and ended up being dumped into the lake. One of the people working at the lake came out in a motorboat as I was treading water and told me there was "no swimming in the lake, sir."

I'm guessing it was sarcasm.

No, no, you can't swim in Crabtree. The water isn't clean enough.

I suppose it depends on what the OP meant by water access, but I don't think I would swim at Lake Crabtree (if it is even allowed). Stick with the paddle boats and canoes. If they are looking for an actual lake where you can bring your boat, swim, picnic, etc., then it is really Falls & Jordan in the area; chose the one closer to where you live.
