I applied online last week to four positions. Two were for part time positions, one full-time through Wake County School district and another through a health care agency. I got calls back by the end of the week from three of the four. I was just offered a position at two of the jobs, one of which is Wake County school district.
Perhaps the major difference with myself and others here having such a hard time is that I own homes in the area? I indicated in my cover letter my relocation address and explained I own two homes in the area? I gave them a specific relocate date by which my feet would be on the ground. Both places that offered me a position specifically asked for assurance I would be following through with my move. Then they called back and offered me the positions. Having a home in the area at time of employment indeed seems to help as many here have suggested. They seemed somewhat concerned about the relocate aspect. Perhaps employers have been burned in the past hiring folks, then they change their minds and do not take the jobs? Seemed that way to me.
