That's right, Lowes Foods is now carrying Vienna Beef brand hot dogs! Found them at the Cary location on High House & Cary Pkwy, but supposed to be in all NC locations. Didn't see the condiments, like the neon relish unfortunately, but at least you can now make the dogs at home. Freddy's in Cary & Durham also serves them if you want to eat them out. Enjoy!

Freddy's just opened in Wake Forest as well.

BTW - Harris Teeter has Gino's East deep dish pizzas in the freezer section.

Might better get them while you can. At regular price.of 6.99 for 12oz many would opt for steak! I like Viennas but Lowes brand is not really bad and usually half that on sale. I went to Coney Island one time while visiting NYC. When I told them I wanted chili, mustard and onions on my dog they said I must be from Detroit, (I was). Now if there was a place to get Italian beef....

They're on sale for $4.99 right now.

Rosati's in Cary has Chicago Italian beef. It's not the best presentation, but the flavor is pretty good. Nancy's Pizza in Raleigh has excellent Chicago pizza, both thin & deep dish. They're supposed to be adding the beef sandwiches.

Sprouts in Raleigh and soon to be in Durham has Home Run Inn pizza as does either Harris Teeter &/or Lowes Foods.

If you're ever in downtown Asheboro check out Mike's Chicago Dogs & more. He's got the hot dogs, beef sandwiches and even Chicago style tamales, all supplied thru Vienna Beef. He grew up near Wrigley. I'm a Sox fan, rather than Cubs like him, but the food is good and a rare find in NC.

Vienna Beef is the best but you can keep the relish. Just need mustard, tomato and sauerkraut. Maybe pickles too.

All you would have to do is add Slaw to that mix and you would have an NC style hot dog!

Sounds like a typical Varsity (Atlanta) hot dog to me - Yumm.

My brother lived down there during the 70's. I visited often and always went to the Varsity for hotdogs

Varsity dogs pair well with a “Frosty Orange.” Vienna Beef Dogs pair well with a cold Goose Island, or whatever is on tap at Comiskey. I still dream of the Buona Italian Beef at Wrigley... I always miss Chicago this (hot, steamy, buggy) time of year. Not so much in January, or whenever I need to find a parking space...
