What else is new. Did you see the little kids dressed up as Dr/Nurse in training? They were about 4 years old and the Twittersphere was calling it SEXIST.

Socializing children from early childhood to believe that doctors are male and nurses are female is sexist. It creates mindsets, perpetuates stereotypes, and limits opportunity for women and men. But hey.

The majority of Med School students are female, so it's obviously not working.

It's not working for *those* women (pretty small subset of the population), who clearly had other influences. Societal stereotypes are perpetuated by it, affecting the choices of many women and men and altering perceptions of women doctors and men nurses. (And 90% of nurses are still female.)
