Since this area is known for using attics as bonus space/flex space. If you could, lot and floorplan permitting, would you rather have more living space on your first two floors than walking up to that third floor attic?

I would rather have more living space on the first 2 floors. (Or a basement). This area is too hot for walk up attics. It's too hard to cool them.
When I bought my house I thought oh cool a sitting room, dining room and these are just rooms for dust bunnies to live in. The only one that uses the dining room is the dog since that where her bowls are.
I want more liveable living room space and I do not want it to open to the kitchen.
Nothing worse than watching a tv program and someone is doing dishes or cooking making noise that carries over
Assuming the first two floors are already enough space, I'd rather have a 3rd floor to use as a storage room or maybe a workout room ...things I wouldn't really dedicate a room to in a 2-story house.
Absolutely, I'd much rather have more space on the first floor. It really limits the use of a room when its on the 3rd floor. I don't want to have a great party/media room and make my guests trudge up 2 flights of stairs, past all the bedrooms to reach it!
I'm surprised by the popularity of 3rd floor rec rooms here!
We looked at a lovely townhome in which the 3rd floor was finished and converted into a home gym. By the time i walked up BOTH flights of stairs, I figured I didn't need any more exercise!!! My vote is more room on the lower two levels.
I'd rather have a basement than a finished 3rd floor. That's not always an easy order to fill around here, so I guess my answer would be to have more space on the 2 main floors.
We owned a home with a LARGE unfinished walk-up attic and moved rather than finish it off.
