Ok, I've read all the posts that mention traffic going to & from work with exit 312, but I'm looking for some more info. I'm currently renting in Raleigh, but looking at townhomes just past Cleveland Elementary in Clayton. I work off of exit 13B. My work hours are 8:30am to 5:00, but we have opportunities now to work some overtime. How bad would traffic be for someone leaving at 7:30am for work & coming back after 6pm? Is the traffic just bad during rush HOUR or is it pretty much bad all morning & evening?

(I've also looked at townhomes at Riverwood, but you get more for your money at this place. I think my commute would be much better from Riverwood though).

What roads are exits 312 and 13B associated with?

Exit 312 is off of 40 (that is the only one I know for sure).

Traffic can get pretty hairy there, esp in the evening. If the new bypass opens in July as scheduled, it might make the exit ramp back-up a little shorter in the evenings. The worst thing about driving off of exit 312, is the growth that did not allow for road improvements. This will only get much worse before it gets any better.

13B is the New Bern Avenue exit on 440. There's a super Walmart down that road. In the other direction is WakeMed.

My son's friend's family moved to Clayton for lower cost.

Commuting woes brought them back to Raleigh. With gas at near $4.50, think hard before going further out since mass transit's unavailable.

Whoa...$4.50 is jumping the gun a little (sure it was a typo). That being said, I understand what you're saying. I spent about $70 just to drive to Northern VA and back last weekend. I think it was the first time I actually ever thought about how much I was spending in gas before I took a road trip.

It was $3.51 today posted at Quail Corners Shell. Most stations were around $3.43. Hopefully it was only a typo and not a premonition of things coming soon.

Thanks for catching it.

In terms of mileage, it would be 7.5 miles farther away from work than where I live now. However, I'm now 12 miles closer to my parents if I wanted to go visit them on the weekend. So, I think morning/evening traffic would be a bigger issue than gas, which hasn't hit $4.50 yet, but It wouldn't surprise me if it does.
