Hello, does anyone know where I could find a list of open houses. I am visiting in 2 weeks and would like to visit some houses in different areas (Holly Springs, Fuquay Varina, North Raleigh, Clayton, Wake Forest). Thanks for the help!
The Triangle area is different from other areas, such as western New York, where you could spend all day Sunday traipsing through open houses with little problem.
"Open houses" used to be non-existent here. If you wanted to see the inside of a house, you'd need to contact a real estate agent to set up an appointment. As newcomers have infiltrated the area, and as the real estate market gets tight, there are more open houses. But it's nothing like it is in other areas.
open houses on the MLS and the notation gets picked up by the various websiters, Realtor.com being one. You can search for open houses on that site and others. They have not been very popular here because statistics show very few homes are sold through open houses. It isn't really a very efficient way to look at homes here, either, as we are so spread out. If you are looking in a particular price range you might drive all over the place. If you do not know the area (and even if you do) it can mean a lot of time just looking for a place. I am seeing more open houses as the market inventory grows, though.

You might also encounter issues trying to plan your open house visits even a week in advance. Not sure about Raleigh - Raleigh REALTORS chime in here if I'm wrong - but in Charlotte Open Houses sometimes weren't decided until Thursday or Friday before the Saturday or Sunday open house.
