Moving from Wilmington to the Triangle area next month. Store assignment will not be known at that time. Could possibly be in north Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Holly Springs, or Fuquay Varina. Any advice on where to start looking for possible housing would be greatly appreciated!
I'd probably lean towards West Raleigh, near Jones Franklin Road or Western Blvd if you plan to rent. I personally would not want to commute to N Raleigh from Apex. US 1 and the beltline in that area is a mess with construction. It's still a mess with construction around Jones Franklin and Western Blvd, but a bit less so than coming from further south, in my opinion.
Thanks for the information. Do you know anything about Knightdale or Brier Creek?
Brier Creek is accesible to all those areas. The toll road makes the commute much easier in some cases. The area has lots of shopping and a growing amount of local Asian restaurants along with many recognizable chains. Plenty of apartments. There are sometimes townhomes and condos for rent in the country club or nearby.
Is there an equal chance at being assigned to any of those locations? They definitely tend towards west/south Wake, with North Raleigh being the outlier. If there's an equal chance, then I'd say Apex as well -- with the chance that you could draw the short straw and end up at North Raleigh.
Brier Creek isn't a bad trip to any, but only really convenient to North Raleigh. The toll on said road is $3.60 end to end.
South Cary / west Raleigh would be my first thought for minimizing distance, though traffic might be worse. I imagine right now might be a better than usual time to bargain on rent near NCSU (generally southwest Raleigh).
Knight dale would be really far from some of those locations.
