As I've said earlier in another thread, I grew up in Raleigh (I'm 44), had woods and a creek right behind my house and spent hours back there throughout my childhood--and NOT ONCE have I ever seen a poisonous snake "loose" in the wild, not ONCE.
Tornadoes do hit the state occasionally, usually in spring and fall, but not compared to the Midwest/Plains states. When they do, the damage is severe but very localized (as in, one house could be obliterated while the next door neighbor's trash can lids are still in place). It is quite impossible to plan your life avoiding tornadoes--you just have to hope you are one of the 99.9999999......% of people who are never hit by one.
thanks everyone. its actually funny i mentioned this to my husband..after i posted it. and he laughed about the snakes and mentioned that we have a ton of poisonous snakes around here and then listed all of them. who knew. ok so i guess i am paranoid. ...and quite happy I havent seen them.
