We've been living in Cary for 2 months now and loving every minute of it. I'm almost feeling a little guilty for lack of any pangs of homesickness. I do miss my dad and sister but I'm comfortable knowing they'll be down to visit. Every day I awake to blue skies and chirping birds as I sit sipping coffee on my very first screened porch. Each morning my DH says to me:
"LG" = life's good. We've both settled into our new jobs and are making lots of friends. We've had more social activities in the past few weeks than we had in 20 years of living in our old home in New England. Our neighbors are wonderful, warm and welcoming. I just wanted to tell people how much we love it here and so appreciate being part of your community. It's been a smooth transition and I hope this is true for other newly re-located people.
Lisa

That's how it has been for us, also. Visits with family are now much more enjoyable. We adjusted quickly and love it so much more here than back home. We were happy back home, but the overall quality of life is much better here, along with friendlier people. I am glad you found such happiness here.

After 4.5 years in Wake County, I still miss my family in PA. Then again, I'd go crazy if we lived in the same state.

(And I still do greatly miss the snow but that is it. )

We felt the same LJ. My family relocated 8 months ago and we've yet to get that homesick feeling. Our family members have made it a point to come down and visit, which helps, and I've been up to see them as well. But general day to day, I miss almost nothing about New England. Ok... maybe a few things, but not enough to want to go back and live heh. I'm glad you had such an easy transition
