I am in need of a place to take my small child fishing. I prefer a private setting over a large place such as Shelley Lake. Any suggestions? We live in Clayton but will drive 20 miles or so to get to a good spot.

Umstead Park and Durant nature park both have fishing areas.
Lake Johnson is fun because you can rent a fishing boat
and the lake is beautiful. Lake Crabtree has boats also but the lake is
smaller and not as pretty.
Have fun !!!
Good for you for taking your son fishing!!!!

Hi I live in Riverwood Athletic in Clayton, our community folk fish in our small pond over in the custom section. When you first drive in make your first right and follow all the way till you reach a red structure (building) park and walk to pond, it sounds just like what your looking for. Have fun!
