We have out of town (really out of town by way of France) guests visiting that are helping us to see what a beautiful state this is. We just got back from the beach and we will be heading over to the Black Mountain area later this week. In the meantime, they were hoping to catch some country music in the area and I am at a loss. It's been a long time since my husband and I have been out to hear music, so I'm not sure where to start. Any input on places where there might be country music either live or played in general, would be greatly appreciated. I've looked online through the Independent Weekly and N&O and didn't come up with any place.

Thanks for any input and hopefully the rain will be stopping soon on this Sunday morning. Take care everyone, and enjoy your day.

Hi,

My you are busy entertaining! The Long Branch Saloon (possibly on Old Wake Forest Rd?) Is a country music hall, bar and club. I think they keep a calendar of events online so you might want to look there.

Thanks SteelersGirl for such a quick response. Forgot to mention that I had lheard about/ looked into Long Branch and was sad to see that they have posted online that they closed last month! Darn!, it seemed like it might have been the best place to take our guests.

The only other place that I am aware of is City Limits downtown. I have never been there, so I don't know what it is like, but I have a feeling it is more of a college crowd.
