And I believe this is the second time, recently, I've seen national recognition of a Durham teen.
My bet is that this kid comes from a supportive family and has grown up with reasonable rules and restrictions placed upon him. Hard to imagine a kid going from this environment to being a gang-banger. And very, very unlikely!

As much as one would like to hope, as accomplished as this guy is, he won't be the one to bring down the gangs. However, I think the schools all over the Triangle area should be using him as a HUGE example in health classes; not only is his message right on target, he influenced government channels and got things done. He's way ahead of about 75% of our elected officials on that score!
