I'm haven't been impressed when reading about the overnight boarding facilities for dogs in this area. My two small non shedding dogs are not used to being in a cage or kennel all day and I am more interested in knowing whether or not there options such as someone keeping them at their house during a short vacation of 4 days. Does anyone know of a company or word of mouth if someone in this area does this?

We use Pupsi in Cary. We have been extremely happy with them. The dogs get tons of excersise thoughout the day. VERY CLEAN facility.

Default Town and Country in Apex

My little dog boy, Spike, loves Town and Country. He's a doted on little Maltese, who spends all day, everyday at home with "Dad". We worried he would be unhappy, but he seems to like going there. We left him for a week last summer. He was clean, and happy when we went to pick him up. This last time we left him for a couple days, he happily trotted after the attendant, not even looking back once.

I think i'm the fourth vote for Town and Country. We use the vet, daycare, and kennel services there and I think it is an excellent choice if you want a kennel. Some people say it's too expensive, but this is one instance in which I believe you get what you pay for.

However, if you really want in-home care, you can use this web page to search for sitters that will take care of your pets in your or their home. For overnight stays in your home, I have found the rates to be about $65-80/night. Depending on how many pets you have, this could be a better economical option.

Locate a Pet Sitter

I am currently in search of someone to pet and house sit our labs a few times a year, so I'll keep an eye on this thread for more options!

At Pupsi, they are out all day so if you're looking for that, it's a good facility.

However, just be aware that Pupsi charges the full fee upfront for new customers and 1/3 upfront for returning customers and that these 'deposits' are nonrefundable -- even if your plans change.

I have used Pupsi for daycare and being out all day has its downside - I returned at 5 on our first day to find that our dogs had been outside all day.... all the way through a thunderstorm. In addition to being soaked, one was shaking as she is frightened of thunder! On the other hand, I have several neighbors who use Pupsi and are delighted!

No wonder it is so hard to get our dog into Town and Country, with all of y'all going there, too.

There are also quite a lot of dog-sitters in the area that will come out to your house. Just make sure you get good references. I've heard of cases where the sitters did not come as often as they were supposed to.
