I'm trying to identify an experienced law firm in the Raleigh-Durham area specializing in education and discrimination law. Any leads/referrals would be greatly appreciated. - Thank you.
A college student is in need of legal advocacy. It's a learning disability/discrimination issue. Any leads on a law firm with that capability and experience would be appreciated.
I hope that you get the response you need to assist you with the college student. So many students with disabilities required legal advocacy both in secondary and post-secondary education. Perhaps you can call the US Office of Special Education or the State Department of Education to provide with this information. Also every local system is suppose to have a parent advocacy groupe. You might even want to call the Office of Civil Rights in your commmunity. You might be able to get some of those parents to get you connected with a good lawyer. I hope all works out for the student so that he/she can achieve the dreams he/she is after.
Many lawyers here are useless and won't fight for a client. They want quick bucks by just writing a letter or two.
I once was told by a plasma bank I had AIDS and went into a depression since I had no risk factors. The clinic even reported me to Wake County Health Dept.
My doctor ran tests several times proving the plasma bank wrong.
Not one of the numerous lawyers I tried had a bit of interest in helping.
Plasma bank screwed up so much, FDA shuttered them.
Don't expect a good lawyer here. They look good in their TV ads but are total wimps in most cases.
I don't have any recommendations for law firms/lawyers, but you might consider going to the university ombudsman if you haven't already done so.
