How long until I receive a Social Security card for my newborn?

My son borned at wakemed on 04/07/209.When we gave information for our son's birth certificate we said "yes" to apply for social security number for our son.It's almost 11 weeks passed we have not received ssn card.I called SSN local office this morning and asked howlong it will take to get ssn and why i have not received.The answer was you should receive in 10 weeks,as it already passed 10 weeks you need to come to local office and apply manually again.SSN office is saying there is no way we can find whether we got request for SSN card from hospital.Is anybody experienced same and any ideas please help me out.

Took us 90 days and to be honest...if I hadn't called, the woman told me it would have been much longer. It's called State layoffs. Less employees doing more work. Look for 120-180 days now. I suggest calling, pushing the issue and crossing your fingers. When it comes to State Gov't...the left hand never knows what the right is doing.

We are still waiting and our son was born on Dec 2nd 2009 at big Wake.

You should receive it soon. Our DD was born mid November and we got her card about 3 wks ago.
