My friend who lives in Wake Forest would like to know if there are any 5 star restaurants in Raleigh. If anyone knows please post.
5 star by what ranking system? The Michelin Guides only give 3 stars, and I know there are none of those in Raleigh....not even sure if there are any in North Carolina (there are only around 50 worldwide).
The Heron at The Umstead Hotel does have 4 stars from the Mobil guide (out of 5). It's going to be your best bet.
That is hardly a 5 star restaurant.....it's not even a 1 star! (And that is not an insult...to earn even one star you need to be pretty darn good.)
The food is ok, but we were there the other night with friends and their food never arrived. It was sent to another table and then returned to the kitchen. Other then a sorry from the waitress...they never got their meal.
Not in Raleigh, but I believe the Fearington Inn in Chapel Hill is a five star resturant.
I believe both the Umstead and the Fearington Inn are 5 star hotels/inns according to Mobil but their restaurants are both 4 stars (not that that's not prestigious!). Carolina Crossroads in CH is also a Mobil Guide 4 star restaurant.
If you want to see the Mobil restaurant ratings for Raleigh, or other Triangle cities and towns, then visit Mobil Travel Guide: Listing Restaurants of Raleigh, North Carolina (http://mobiltravelguide.howstuffworks.com/raleigh-nc-restaurants-list.htm?minRating=0 - broken link). As said before, the only two 4* restaurants in the Triangle are Fearrington Inn, Herons, and Carolina Crossroads.
