Anyone know the status of the Best Buy in Brier Creek? Only thing I could find online is this old NO article outlining some issues. What's the latest, and is there an opening date?

Wow, that's crazy. That's a perfect location for them and I can't imagine them backing out of it. When I first saw the construction I would have thought they would want it to be open in time for Christmas shopping, but now I see why not.

I agree - I kept wondering how they could not be open in time for Christmas, but bear in mind also that this article is dated August 2008, so all the problems may have been sorted out long ago and I just haven't heard the results.

I drove by the other day and not a single store has opened in the entire new area. It was a ghost town. Nice parking lot though. Good place for roller hockey.

I believe that in that new section a couple stores already went out since opening. Ok what's wrong with that side of the road?

Oh my God, I hope it's soon. I hate driving down to Crabtree. LOL

tabbcat,

Not sure where you live, but live in the Brier Creek area and I find driving to Southpoint is easier than Crabtree for me. (less lights, get to drive faster)

Ooh, thanks for the tip! I love Southpoint but i always THINK it's further because I don't quite know how to get there, whereas Crabtree is a straight shot down 70. I live at 98 and Sherron, so you might be right.

It's more/less the same, but the big advantage of Southpoint is you don't have to deal with the mess getting out of there. From where you are, just take Sherron to Miami to 40, or if you want to get really sneaky, Sherron to Miami to Alexander (or Ellis) to 147 South to 40.

Exit Fayetteville and then spend money!

Personally, Brier Creek is a mess - the main part is very spread out, and with all the shopping on the other side, and no left turns, getting around is a nightmare. A BB there would be ten min away from me, the same as the one at Crabtree, or off Capital actually, and both are easier to get to. Saying that about Crabtree says a lot. Just my 2 cents, but the developers at Brier Creek really designed that whole area poorly. Its unwalkable, and even by car it can take you ten minutes to get from store to store.
