I think the dealer might tell me my car repairs aren't covered by my warranty, in which case I want someone else to fix it. Can someone recommend a mechanic either in east Chapel Hill/west Durham, or right around RTP? Thanks

WASP automotive is good. It's recommended by fans of NPR's "Click and Clack" auto talk show.

WASP
RTP-area shop
(near the intersection of Hwy 54 and Hwy 55)
4906 Meadow Drive
Tel: 572-2886 (572-AUTO)

People might have more recommendations if you tell us what the make is.

Not in the area you requested, but for those in Chapel Hill & Carrboro looking for a really good, really honest mechanic, I highly recommend AutoLogic in Carrboro.

I have heard good things about Auto Logic. Do you know if they service BMW? If they do I'd like to go to them once my BMW maintenance warrteny runs out next April.

Sant - Sorry, I don't know if they do BMWs. They do a lot of different cars, so it wouldn't surprise me that they do. The folks there are wonderful and friendly - down to the mechanics who always call about my car to describe the problem, and if necessary discuss options for fixing it (including good advice about whether a repair is really necessary and what the most cost-effective way might be to address it).
