Has anyone participated? Which model did you get and are you happy with it? Finally, what was the turn around on the rebate?

I mailed in the paperwork just over a week ago, so I'm waiting to see. We got a Glacier Bay model (I can't remember exactly which one) while it was on sale at Home Depot. It has a tank within a tank; the little tank fills up, then when you push the lever, turns over into the big tank to flush. Performance wise, it will suffice. It uses less water, for sure, but the parts are plastic, so I'm skeptical of how long it will work.

Is this just for the city, not county?

Low flow toilets often need flushed twice...good idea on paper, but lacking in implementation on most models. Recommend doing your homework before buying. They do make a power assisted brand that works well, but costly.

ps - if you are replacing and have an older toilet from before the gov restrictions, sell it on ebay or craigslist...decent market for them.

I've never been a big fan of low-flow toilets. With my experience I end up flushing more often and use just as much, if not more water.

Good idea in principle, but not in practice.

I'm going to replace the toilets in all my bathrooms (my home is 20 years old) but forget about saving water!

I have a teenager so I want a toilet that will FLUSH better than what I have.

Does Raleigh have the same rebates?

Does anyone have a toilet that they recommend can handle teenagers??? For those of you that HAVE teenagers, I know you know what I mean!!!

Vicki

Supposedly the best toilets (i.e. highest flush capacity) are built by Toto but they are obscenely expensive. A standard height, round bowl, Cadet 3 two piece toilet in white color is often priced under $140 when on sale. Elongated bowl, ADA height, single piece construction, and colors other than white all add to the cost.

This toilet also looks like a standard toilet (no unusual bulges for added water jets) and is very quiet. This is in addition to having a large diameter fully glazed trap which eliminates plugging, and a large diameter flush valve flapper to eliminate double flushes, common complaints with low flow toilets.

I don't know how well the WaterSense Cadet 3 performs, but the 1.6 gallon/flush Cadet 3 works great.

p.s. there is a Master Plumber by the name of Terry Love who has a web site dedicated to the best plumbing products, particularly toilets. His site has enough test reports and details to make anyone's head swim. http://www.terrylove.com/crtoilet.htm
