Tranplanted Yankee here...I am looking for smoked trout - we had it every Thanksgiving and put it on Ritz crackers with a little horseradish cream. Yum!! I cannot find it anywhere here! Does anyone know where I can find this?

Thanks!

We used to be able to find it at Lowe's foods and Costco's but Costco's hasn't carried it for a while. I like it with a sour cream/mayonnaise/horse radish sauce with capers and chopped red onions on a cracker.
I was fly fishing near Jackson Hole, Wy one year and had it at a restaurant. Loved it. Hope you find it. If you do, please let me know where. Thanks.

Trader Joe's in Cary has it. It comes in tins similar to anchovy ones.
Delious - I put a tin of it on lettuce mix for a quick lunch.

You might want to call A Southern Seasons in Chapel Hill to see if they have it.

Yrs ago there was a small shop in CH, the guy did all his own smoking, bluefish, trout, salmon, it was awesome! I believe he closed down, haven't been able to find anything like it locally. Hope someone posts a new source for us. Here's one that does mail order Products | Sunburst Trout
And, just found this, outer banks is not that bad a drive if you go to stock up. http://www.weepingradish.com/Smokehouse.htm

Whole Foods sells smoked trout in the seafood department, along with smoked salmon.
