Anyone know of any indoor basketball courts in the RTP area or RDU area in general? Maybe a school that lets people come in and shoot during off-hours? I dont want to pay for a gym membership just to shoot baskets once or twice a month.

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the reco! $25 an hour for a half court to shoot around in....yikes.

Although they do have a $7 rate on weekdays. Would prefer an empty gym on a weeknight to just go shoot around in at a school or something.

You might try Hoops City U. HoopsCityU.com - Hoops City U

All I know about it is that it's attached to TKs Jungle, but the facility looked nice and it does look cheaper than a gym membership.

I use to shoot around at Laurel Hills community center, you just have to call them and ask when open gym is. This time of the year those hours will change alot b/c youth bball just started. But yeah if you find a good one let me know, I'm looking also.

I saw Hoops City for the first time this weekend, and it looked pretty neat. No idea what it's like during the week or how much it costs, though.

Hoops City U is a fantastic facility but you pay to use it (not sure how much). There are often free courts or pick up games at the city rec centers (lake lynn, laurel hills, etc.). Call ahead to make sure the gym is free.

A public school is likely not going to let "strangers" in to use their gymnasium due to liability issues--they aren't insured for you.

Some cities do have open gym nights in schools. The town I came from did this and it was run by the Parks and Rec so the question isn't that strange, just not something they do around here.
