We are a family of 4. My son is 7 an my daughter is 5. We will be making a move from the Boston area to the Fayetteville/Raliegh area. I have been to multiple websites trying to find information on great towns and school rankings (that an out-of-towner can understand) - but none have a personal touch with actual opinions. I would appreciate feeback on what would be considered "the best towns" to move to in this cooridor and how the schools fair. If you are from the Boston area - I am looking to find something similar to Reading, Natick, Wellesley, or Arlington MA. My husband will be working from Fort Bragg and I would like to be in commuting distance to Raliegh so I can find a corproate job. Any and all feeback is very appreciated. Thank you!

To the OP, tell us more about what you're looking for - what price range of house, what features you'd like to find in your community, what you're looking for in schools, etc. We can't know what's best for you, but we can help match specific criteria you identify.

We are originally from MA. The distance between Fayetteville and Raleigh is 1hr+ without traffic depending on where you are. That is a hefty commute. I'm not sure what you will find in between. As far as the schools, I don't think you will find anything that compares to Wellesley. (we lived in Holliston 1 town over from Natick and 3 from Wellesley) Maybe Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools but they are further North of Raleigh which would make your commute unbearable. Are private schools an option for you?

You can look at Wake County Public School System. This is the Wake County schools district that includes Raleigh and surrounding areas.

Advanced search and I entered Fort Bragg and searched the Triangle forum

My sister and brother in law live in Johnston County, close to 40/42. My sister works in Raleigh...takes her about 35 min. commute and my brother in law works in Fayetteville. Takes him about an hour to get there.

Johnston County schools are very good.
