Frazier’s To Close and Reopen as Food-Centric Wine Bar « VarmintBites

that restaurant convinced us we would be okay to move down here. it is our favorite restaurant in the area. such a shame. glad something new is coming from this, but still disappointing. i feel like they should've held it out until h. street is finished and the economy improves. like if they stuck it out this long, why quit when the end is in sight?

According to the article, the owners are changing its format. So, in effect, they are not throwing in the towel. Restaurants come and go and very few have staying power for the long haul. Peoples' tastes change and restaurant owners either respond or go eventually go bust.
I wouldn't be surprised if the new wine bar's menu felt familiar. But, who knows? Time will tell.

like i said, im happy they're going to be doing something else, but i feel it's a bad sign when a restaurant can only survive if it's a trendy hotspot. frazier's had amazing food at relatively decent prices. with fin's turning into buku and now this a few days later, i just get a weird vibe. [tho we've been to buku twice since it opened wednesday and it's awesome! and very reasonably priced.]

Those same owners have several other successful restaurants and, I suspect, have their finger on the pulse of the restaurant business here than any of us could.
