My family would like to join a pool for the summer. There are a bunch of them (Lakemont, Greystone, Lake Park, Seven Oaks, Springdale, Northbrook, North Raleigh, and Raleigh Racquet) in the area and they are all pretty much within the same price range (give or take).

Can you please help me and recommend one over another?

Thanks!!

I can't speak for the last two years but Lakemont has always been wonderful. Great parent participation and leadership.

The RRC has a larger pool and deck area. Crowded in June, less so in July and August as the water heats to bathtub warmth. LOL!

I was a member there for years when the kids were little and probably ate supper there more often than home.

Stay away from Seven Oaks with their $2,000+ first year fee.

I grew up going to lakemont. It was within walking distance to our house and I was on the swim team as a little kid. I used to love that place. We are members at north hills club now.

Bonnie, Do your kids want to participate on the summer swim team? If so, you should check out the size and competetiveness of the team associated with each of the pools you listed. Some of these swim teams are HUGE (Seven Oaks comes to mind) and the meets seem to go on forever, lol, while others are less competetive and lower key, but still a lot of fun (e.g. Lakemont). Many of these teams fall somewhere in between. Team rankings and profiles can be found on the Tarheel Swim Association website: Tarheel Swimming Association

Sorry, just realized you first posted this in February! I guess you have a pool by now!
