In my area we have a strong ReMax and a weak CB but there are ReMax offices that are also weak.
It really all depends on what's working and the leadership in your local office.

In this area we have strong and weak RE/MAX offices and same with CB. We have several very strong locally owned brokerages but I'm hesitant to consider them because they seem pretty insular/cliquish if that makes sense. That being said, I may approach the two strongest ones and interview with them if they're interested.
I agree about the individual leadership. I'm really talking more about what seems to be extreme differences in the two systems. RE/MAX has pretty steep monthly fees but a very advantageous commission "split" locally and I think that's the common system. Coldwell Banker has a lower commission split (tiered depending on production, like many other brokerages) but offers more leads (at a lower commission split too).
Coldwell Banker seems to offer more "in person" training but RE/MAX seems to encourage it's agents to be more of their own individual business if that makes sense.
I am too far east of Dallas to be in that MLS realistically. I will be working in the Tyler metro area and we don't have an Ebby Halliday office locally. We probably do have the market for it but so far they haven't moved into this area. I plan to focus on Tyler, especially the historic district, as well as eventually working with farms and ranches (those were my two niches in the past and I LOVE those types of properties!). I live just outside of Tyler in an area with a lot of farms and ranches and those take longer to cultivate but I enjoy the challenges of those listings. There's just something about stomping along a property line in boots or riding around on a four wheeler to show a property that invigorates me!
But I especially love unique and quirky old homes and we've got lots of them as well!
Sooooooooo excited! A weird thing is happening to me though - my correspondence course work which I ordered a full week ago isn't here and no one is returning my emails either. I find this very odd. I'm about to have to get in the middle of this. Grrrrrrrrrrr.
