I'm interested in buying a parcel of land in a safe neighborhood to initially build a modular home on it. It is desirable to have access to at least electricity, water, gas and Internet.

I work in San Francisco, so it'd be good to be within less than hour drive from work. I'm used to commute, so would be ok with better quality of living that is slightly farther from urban areas.

Currently I'm renting at $3500 in SoMa, but hate burning money, so would prefer to spend it on building some equity, if that is possible. The idea is to get a mortgage and hope that property appreciates or at least stays at same level.

Any tips or recommendations are much appreciated. 😁
