I'd buy a house without a garage. I'd like a carport at least, but if I loved the house, I'd buy it regardless of garage or not. I live in a warm climate, though. In a cold climate (snowy) probably not!

Strongly prefer a garage, or at least a spot where one can be built. A very nice carport (not some flimsy sheet of metal on a couple posts) might also work, but I am a fanatic about keeping my cars nice, and having a garage is a big deal to me.

I would, especially if there is a shed for tools.

Most of the people in my neighborhood don't even park in their garages. The yards are 1+ acre, so there is lots of driveway room.

We had no requirements to buy a house EXCEPT: fenced in yard and a driveway.

we have a garage that we just discovered after 2yrs of living here, we can park in...so yes id buy with or without a garage.

Another Central Austinite here who feels the same way.

I had a one car garage at my previous home and now just have a now enclosed carport where I put all my storage items, workbench and laundry. I miss the garage occasionally but given that we rarely have frost issues in this part of Texas (have defroster on car just in case) and the fact that I have an older car it really makes little difference.

In Texas where most areas don't have basements it is really more a matter of storage space than car space. Of course the upside of scarcity of space is that you tend to collect less junk over time thus simplifying your life.

Totally depends on the location and the typical/expected configuration of the neighborhood. While most houses have garages in our neighborhood, some, but not most have two car garages but plenty of older, historical houses have minimal garages if they have have them at all.

Our 1928 house has a small, attached (unusual) garage but no driveway (less than 3' long) and the garage is really too small for anything but a Mini and we love the house and area just fine. The small house next door has no garage or driveway and sold in a bidding war a few months ago for over $1.1M in a couple of days after it came on the market so obviously there are other people that feel the same way. A garage is way down the list of important things I desire in a home (at least in this area). We just park on the street.

No. Being able to go directly from the car to inside in inclamient weather is HUGE. Also storage of things that shouldn't come inside the house like a lawnmower, wheelbarrow, motor oil, but shouldn't be out in the open either.

Garage is a must-have for us, even if it only has space for one car.

My garage has never met my car either, but it does house the assorted tools that could take your arm off..

so, no. I wouldn't buy a home without a garage. I'd have to keep it all in the house, and I like my arms.

My area doesn't have garages for the most part except in townhouses. Depends on area I guess.
