Just wanted to share...I haven't seen it yet! But our agent told us it is a $210.000 offer - our house is listed at $219.000. Not sure if they want closing help, my husband forgot to ask, we'll find out soon enough, I guess.
We listed the house in mid Sept. so it's been on the market about 6 weeks. We actually had one offer come in the first week, but it was contingent upon the buyer selling their house and when we added the kick out clause, they refused to sign.
I am kind of shocked that we got an offer. Reading how bad the market is and seeing so many houses for sale, I thought we'd be here at least until spring.....
Please keep your fingers crossed for us, I know we still have a long way to go!
Congrats - maybe getting quick offers and interest also indicates that your home is priced right for your market and your realtor is doing their job well.
We had actually talked about dropping the price by $5000 the end of this week...so we got lucky. But as I read a lot here, it's not a done deal until you have the money in the bank. I do feel like celebrating a tiny bit though :-)
Thanks for the good wishes!!!!
We've had our condo up since July and got our first offer last week. So, for you to get one in 6 weeks is great! (Do a little *** in the kitchen, I won't tell!). I'm in MA and it's hard to sell right now. Looking just in my area there are 68 condos on the market. Priced real low to outrages ($550,000). But activity is increasing and our agent said there might be a potential offer. If it's better than the first one, we will consider it more. The first offer was $20,000 less than the asking price. We declined it, as we wouldn't be able to afford to pay off the mortgage and pay the agent his commission or the closing costs! We're wouldn't be getting out of here with $100 if we had sold for what the first offer was for. So, anyway, Dance away (just a little one though!)
aomething, I hope you will get a better offer really soon. Seems like there is a bit of activity, because people want to move before the snow and ice. I drive by so many houses each day that have been sitting forever. We are in Central MA.
Best of luck to you!!!
Selling is always stressful, but right now it's even worse than it used to be....
I am in South Eastern Mass. We eventually want to move back to Central Mass. We lived in Shrewsbury before buying here. I was working on Cape at Air Force Base and Hubby was/is in Andover. I was driving an hour and half, then got pregnant, and we decided to get closer to both jobs. This was the logical place. Selling is stressful, but in the end it will all work out. I put St. Joseph in the ground 2 weeks ago and have had more activity, so we'll see. We actually want to buy land in Ashburnham and build a house, hence the reason for selling and renting for a while to save up for the construction loans and the mortgage.
Good luck to you as well! I think you'll sell quickly!
a little update. We did sign the offer and they will have the home inspection in the next 7 days, there was a pre-approval letter, too, just done a few days ago. They do have 10% to put down, so this might work
Aomething, I always go shopping in Shrewsbury, to Trader Joe's etc. . We couldn't afford living in eastern MA, so we are stuck here until we win the Lotto. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you, let us know what happens!
