Hi. We keep hearing so much about how bad it is in the real estate market. My husband and I are looking to buy and sell in our town- how much of the hype is for real??

amyla, you will probably get more response if you post this particular question in the NY Long Island forum. Real estate is local, and you need to get a perspective from the agents and the folks in that area.

amyla- The worst is yet to come for that area. Majority of ARM's still haven't reset yet and the area prob won't start shaking its sky high inventory till mid-late '08 at least. Just a mess, plain and simple.

Any luck finding a house you like?

couponjack-Hi. The one we had liked but was overpriced is still on the market. If you remember, I had asked about making offer on overpriced house. I couldn't do it-when I spoke to the owner I thanked her for her time to show the house but we were very very far apart and I thought an offer would insult her. BTW, the contemporary on the block, asking 25% less, went into constract in less than 7 weeks on the market. I knew that owner had another house she was buying too, as well as the one I like, but upon meeting her she seemed more motivated. At least by the end of Nov. I will have to comps on the block to compare it to and maybe the one I am interested in will come down a lot when they see what the others sold for. Thanks for asking-Amy
