That's nothing. About 4 years ago I went to look at this house and I swear I walked in a house owned by a old Sicilian. The house inside was that old school bumpy plaster look and covered floor to ceiling in all sorts of paintings framed pictures plates statues etc. When I walked in there was a alcove with Madonna ( the saint not the singer) candies and a full on planter. I expected old school Italian music to start playing anytime. In the master there was a huge Jacuzzi. Not a jacuzzi tub but a honest to goodness 6 person jacuzzi. With a actual sky light.
It was one of the most surreal houses I ever stepped foot in.
Those are collector plates, OP. Some of them look like they are pewter.
Don't worry, there is no way that the seller is going to leave them when she moves out. That's a serious collection and putting the plates on the wall is a fairly normal way of displaying them. I don't know much about plates, but some of them are very valuable.
Some people decorate to please themselves, some decorate to please others. You obviously would rather visit and see homes owned by the latter.
