No, I mean ledge. The amount of rock making up most of the state which is a source a radon. While NH certainly isn't the worst state for it, they don't call us The Granite State for nothing

Only 1 oil tank installed since 1940? I doubt that. I bet there has been several heating systems.

Not really. It was built as a summer cottage and didn't get heat until the 70s. Then I converted it to propane in the 90s so the one oil tank is it. Unfortunately they never properly insulated so heating costs are sky high. But I've been lucky to have a neighbor who grew up next door, still lives there and knows all the history since before I bought it.
