While searching for a home, i do come accross the occassional home with a store front on the first floor.
I wonder if anyone has experience living in this kind of property. I would also like to know if having retail tenants are better than having residential tenants.
I know having neighbors is good to have , but cant get over the space to live in, big, and the proximity to public transit.
I lived in a second floor condo and the first floor was retail -- direcly under us was a beauty salon but also on the strip was a dentist, an optomotrist, and a restaurant. We loved it!! The only issue was parking for our guests could be challenging. But since we lived in the city, that was a common problem. The restaurant was kind of a quiet, romantic place that closed at 11pm and also was closed Sundays. If it were a nightclub, I likely would have been distrubed by the place.
"For many city dwellers, the neighborhood bodega, with its surprisingly large variety of foods, beverages and sundries packed into a small space, is a quintessential part of New York City living."
I have viewed some properties closer to the commuter trains in jersey, or across the street from the city bus. I would likely be renting storefront to a quieter business, like an office , driving school, etc. I am a total newbie to this and was wondering about commercial tenant rights over commercial, just making sure I get the mortgage paid.
I did see a theater with a huge apartment above, also an entire elementary school, or church. there are many interesting buildings that could potentially hold great value when I want to sell. Near transport, shopping, and schools.
