Let's look at channis.com as a Ford Escort and ReMax as a Ford Expedition. Channis is in the area of a discount broker while companies like ReMax serve as a semi-full service. Personally nothing in life is free and cheap things fall apart easy.
Real Life story: I went to disney world last year with my two kids. We found a inexpensive hotel and decided we were going to save money. When we got to the CHEAP hotel the mattress' were pissy the carpet had gum stuck to the rug and the customer service was horrible. So in the middle of the night "after we saw a fly-flying" around the room we ended up leaving and staying at the MORE expensive hotel. We ended up spending more money than we anticipated because of paying for two hotel rooms and unable to get an online discount. I hope this answers your question.
I have never worked with Channis, but I have worked with several smaller firms that have the ability to list your home for less. I am here to tell you from one being in the industry that this is one of the BIGGEST misconceptions out there. The car analogy was rather silly. Most small firms do EXACTLY what larger firms will do and sometimes more. People think the millions of dollars firms spend on advertising make their REALTORS better and that is a farce. The truth is...........IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE INDIVIDUAL REALTOR!! If you like an agent and you think they are competent...go with them, no matter what firm they are with.....All commissions are negotiable, the difference is the smaller firms don't have to pay a chunk to the "national" company. I know I may catch flack from other Realtors on board here, but that is the truth. Go with someone referred...that means they were good no matter which firm they are with. By the way, I am with a larger firm, but that doesn't matter either way...cause I am good

Being a full service broker, and having to deal with being on the other end of a transaction with a discount brokerage firm, I know that I would not recommend it! Not only do they take forever when you are trying to ask info about their listing, they do not market your home at all! Keep in mind, that a discount brokerage firm has to have 2 listings for every full service brokerage firm's one. If you want to sell your home quicker and for more money, I would go with a full service firm.

Reason: soliciting
we rent from them and have asked for repairs every single month for the last year and have gotten no response at all. We give them our rent check and they keep it for 3 or 4 weeks and then cash it out of the blue. I came on here to see what type of protection we had as renters and to read others response to Channis. In two years time we have only been able to get them to the house once for repairs and never have seen them again. There is no response to emails, phone calls, notes in the check drop off box. So Jim if you are listening and reading this PLEASE respond. This is getting very out of hand.

Send the landlord a letter stating repairs you need done.
Tell them in the letter if the repairs are not done that you will withold the rent.
Do this at least 10 days before the rent is due, this will allow time for the repairs to get done.
Understand that all states have different landlord tenant statutes, the process I outlined is for Florida.
Google "Landlord tenant Rights (your state)" and you should be able to get a good idea of what you can do.
hi Mike, thanks for this response. Our lease came due and we were supposed to go month to month and decided to find a new home. Now all of a sudden we are hearing from them again and they want to raise the rent because we are going month to month. Just feel kind of helpless but may just cut our losses and move on.

I don't understand how this is a complaint.
Cashing your check is expected and not out of the blue - no matter how long they're holding it for.
