This book is amazing - his approach to food as well as the recipes inside.

He mixes a lot of really pungent taste sensations (he teaches that many strong spices and flavors and fresh, highly colored veggies have some healing properties and I think he's right) - lots of vibrant ethnic influences such as Asian, Middle Eastern, Mexican, etc. There are recipes for those who are gluten-sensitive, vegans, and carnivores alike! The book itself is lovely, easy to read, and downright inspiring.

Many of the recipes call for items that aren't generally in Middle America's pantries, and I thought that some of them would be hard to find in East Texas, but I made one stop at a Whole Foods - like grocery store (Fresh in Tyler, TX - sort of a specialty, upscale store), and found every single item I needed. These recipes call for various sorts of vinegars, unusual spices, fresh peppers, that sort of thing. Another good thing is that the items weren't particularly expensive (other than the miso, which was TEN DOLLARS for a small container - can be found for less in Asian markets!).

Anyway, I thought I'd share this terrific find. So far I've tried a couple of the recipes and they were fabulous and easy to make (he doesn't believe in overcooking things so that in itself makes the prep time shorter and the whole process easier).
