I found my fave pickled green beans recently, and I bought two of the huge jars. I want to serve one of them at Christmas dinner. I think in the past I’ve rinsed them well, and sinply put them in a pretty dish. I’d like to garnish or fancy them up a bit. I am also wondering how good they’d be reheated.
So, would you rinse well, reheat and top with, say, bacon pieces? Roasted garlic? Sauteed onion slivers? Roasted red peppers?
I really do like these and would like to share them on my Christmas dinner table. What do you think?
I've never heard of them heated up. Something different. Our daughter gave us a jar she'd canned pickled with dill and garlic. I just put one of the dill sprigs on the side of the dish.
I've seen them used as a cocktail garnish, especially with bloody marys. I don't think they sound good hot either.
You could make a crudite or antipasto appetizer platter, and use the green beans to line the different sections as dividers between items, that would be pretty.
You could also line up a thin slice of red pepper along each dividing line, and it would be red and green.
In MN Speak the "code" for that is, "Hmmm. Now that sounds different."
