Either Betty Crocker or Better Homes and Gardens cookbooks. For local foods, I'd try searching Allrecipes. com.

The BHG New Cookbook I learned from this american cooking in the 1970s. The recipes are also at the BHG website.
I also have the cookbook American Home Cooking, recipe chapters by area like Southwest, NorthEast, South etc authors
Kenna Lach Bifani and Miranda Whyte. This is a very nice cookbook with great pictures.

While it's not exactly what you're looking for, this shows a list of the official state food(s), by state. Some are basic "food" (like rice) but some are actual dishes. You could google for the recipes you're interested in.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_U.S._state_foods

Here's an unofficial list of what each state is know for, in the author's opinion: https://spoonuniversity.com/lifestyl...e-is-known-for.

Chef Paul Prudhomme's Seasoned America.

Regional favorites from around the USA. I've made a lot of the recipes and every one I've tried is excellent.

The Junior League cookbooks from each state (city) are excellent sources for regional cooking.

Especially from the south.

The Sunset collection of cookbooks will also give you a nice, eclectic assortment of Americanized recipes and cooking styles.
