I bought a roll of puff pastry (imported from Austria!) right before the holiday but my DD and I ended up getting sick/flu and have been recuperating for most of last week.

Any quick and easy (and savory) ideas to share? Thanks in advance!

Smoked salmon mousse or any variety of savory mousse. We once made a smoked salmon cheese cake which I liked very much.

You can use it as a top to any type of pot pie. Doesn't even have to be a "pot" pie, can be deconstructed, yet you still have the crunchiness of the puff pastry.

Fancy pigs in blankets. I did that recently with homemade yeasted puff pastry, used cheddar, some homemade German sweet-hot type mustard and some good "dogs."

You can make little rounds or squares with sides and serve shrimp/chicken/crab salad in them, or some kind of protein in a gravy.

If you want a dessert, but not something sweet, you can wrap some 60% to70% dark chocolate in some, brush with an egg wash, sprinkle with a bit of sugar, and bake.

We've made a Cajun Napoleon type dish with chicken, the trinity, andouille, and a sort of Cajun barbeque sauce.

Rumaki pate - butter, splash of soy sauce, pinch of brown sugar, sauteed mashed chicken livers, minced water chestnuts and crumbled bacon in miniature muffin cups.

Mouser, will you tell us how you assemble that? Do you lay it over the top?
