Dh and I are celebrating 13 years soon and I want to do something for him that he'd enjoy. He's getting a "practical gift" but I want to give him a splurge item too.
He's always wanted to have a massage but it's one of those personal splurges that gets put on the back burner for us because it's not "necessary". Then, I thought of a couples massage, or should I just let him have this one to himself?
My other thought was taking him to the hockey game (good seats, lower level). There is a game scheduled the weekend of our anniversary and I thought I'd hire the babysitter and not let him in on where we are going until we got there.
If it helps, we have 4 kids, I stay home and he works out of the home about 55 hours a week. Our free time usually consists of helping the kids with homework, taking them to practices/watching their sporting events, doing housework/yardwork, lounging on the weekends and watching football and socializing with friends.
I'd like this to be all about US for the evening and I'd like to keep it under $300.

It's the little things you know about someone after that long together that you draw on to choose something special. Think about his interests, hobbies, little things that amuse him, things like that. Only someone who knows him well can personalize it like that.
You can do alot with that budget! One thing your husband may appreciate is just time alone with you so I don't like the idea of a hockey game (too noisy and loud).
I would book a hotel room with a jacuzzi (fireplace would be good too ), go to the room ahead of time and lay out some champagne, massage oil, soft music, chocolate dipped strawberries in the fridge........
You could spend quiet, uninterrupted time together to reconnect over....and over...and over. Even if you don't spend the entire night, you will have some great quality time together and create a lasting memory to reflect back on with a smile. Good luck!

Oh I really like this idea!
