In other words, what would earn that person a second date:

One that takes you out of your comfort zone?

Or

One that's pleasant but conservative?

I will preface this by saying I haven't been in the dating world for a long time so that will influence my response.

I do not think I'd want to be out of my comfort zone, not on a first date anyway. The point of a first date is to get to know that person. That's hard to do when one party doesn't feel comfortable.

You mean you don't wanna go bungee jumping or zip lining?! And here I thought you were a real American!

There used to be a show on TV many years ago about all these "original" (aka weird) first dates, but I can't recall its name. It was quite funny.

My husband always says he's "American" when the kids ask about his nationality. I'm Italian and Irish, 3rd generation born here. My great grandfather was an illegal actually

A first date?

It'd be pretty rough to take me out of my comfort zone, as I'm a pretty comfortable guy wherever I go.

I usually take it to a relatively casual area. Could just be a simple walk around town and get lunch. Could be dinner and a movie or a social gathering of some sort.

Either way, I'd like to keep things pretty casual and laid back on a first date.

Who wasn't those days... Maybe you'd like a date in Sicily then (remember? Sicily... 192x... the old lady from Golden Girls)!

Reminds me of this joke:

Honey, do you know where I want you to kiss me? And the clueless dude starts reciting body parts... When he's done, the woman dreamingly replies: in Paris!

The whole point of comfort zone is that I am there because I want to be there. I will admit that may not make sense.

I'd much rather be on a "comfortable" first date.

First dates are usually somewhat stressful anyway. I'd prefer to be in a setting that's pleasant, peaceful and conducive to conversation. I wouldn't want to have to deal with any unnecessary discomfort or anxiety.
